Action Research Plan

  1. Very thorough, but had a quick question. What did you mean by video and time transition periods?

  2. Erin, I'm not sure what a flexible schedule looks like. Do you need to consider start-up and wind-down time in a class to see how much time is actually 'instructional'?

  3. Annabell - I am going to video tape and time how long transition periods are at a middle school with a bell schedule and at my school with a flexible schedule.

Laura - I am looking at bell schedule versus no bell schedule. I will be looking at start-up and wind-down times, too, since there may be more of this occurring with a bell schedule if each class winds up and down.

    Thank you for your comments.

  4. How are you going to share your data? Are you going to make a side by side graph with the different times so that you can see which one was most effective?

  5. Your action steps are specific to follow through with. This action plan does set out to research the most appropriate type of schedule for your school and defining other types of schedules, my only question is, are you allowing yourself ample time to determine the efficiency and validity of your outcome if you are concluding and sharing your results by October?

  6. You might also include research done by others. I am sure there is a wealth of information and reserach done on this topic.

Could you please comment on my research blog, http://researchthatcreatesaction.blogspot.com ?

    Thanks.
